Oktoberfest – the autumn beer festival

The world's most famous beer festival, Oktoberfest, is held every autumn in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Over the years, the event has grown into a massive German public festival, celebrated by millions of people in a variety of ways.

The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810, with horse races being held on 17 October to honour the marriage between Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The races were later discontinued, and today the festival is mainly about enjoying good company and, naturally, drinking beer.

The autumn festival is also celebrated in Finland. To mark the event, ten beers from Germany, Finland and Denmark will be added to our selection.
