Markings on bag-in-boxes

It is recommended that the bag-in-boxes and other packages made of liquid packaging board have a packaging date or best before date on them.
To provide proper consumer information, it is recommended that the packaging date is marked on these packages as a clear and readable date. The packages may also have markings concerning the storage of the opened product and the time how long the product is drinkable after opening when stored according to the instructions.

If the “best before” date is marked on the package, the promised maximum life may not exceed 12 months. Alko shops are allowed to receive only packages which have at least two (2) months remaining before their “best before” date. Bag-in-boxes delivered via Alko’s central warehouse and coming from abroad must have minimum four (4) months’ sales time remaining when they arrive in the warehouse. If the products come from domestic suppliers, they must have three (3) months’ sales time remaining on their arrival in the warehouse.
Beverages packed in bag-in-boxes and packages made of liquid packaging board are more susceptible to quality defects than those packed in glass bottles.
