Buying a gift card

 

Q: Where can I buy a gift card?

A: A physical gift card can be purchased from an Alko store and an electronic gift card from Alko's webshop, i.e. from address alko.fi

Q: Is there a minimum limit on the amount that can be loaded onto the gift card? What about the maximum?

A: The minimum rechargeable amount is 5 euros and the maximum is 1000 euros.

Q: Can I order an electronic gift card and other products from the webshop with the same order?

A: This is not possible, gift cards are always ordered from the webshop with a separate order.

Q: Can I order more than one gift card at a time?

A: Yes, you can order up to 200 gift cards from the webshop in one order. If there is a need for several gift cards, a new order must be placed for the excess of 200.

Q: Can I buy a gift card from an webshop for another person?

A: Yes, this is possible.

Q: What if the recipient's email address has been entered incorrectly? What happens to the gift card?

A: If you are a gift card subscriber, please contact our customer service customerservice@alko.fi If you are a gift recipient, contact the person who ordered the gift card.

Q: Can I schedule the sending of a gift card?

A: Yes. By default, an electronic gift card is sent to the recipient immediately, but when ordering a gift card, you can also choose the date of sending, when the gift card will be delivered to the recipient. The shipping date can be set up to one year after the order date. The gift card will be sent during the selected day.

Q: What information is stored when ordering an electronic gift card?

A: For ordering purposes, the following information about the subscriber is stored in our system: first name, last name, e-mail address and mobile phone number. In addition, when registering, we store the date of birth so that electronic identification does not have to be done on subsequent occasions.

Q: How is a minor prevented from buying a gift card?

A: In the webshop, the age of the customer is always checked at the time of purchase. In Alko's stores, age limit control is handled by the store's staff.

Paying with a gift card

 

Q: Can physical gift cards be used in the webshop?

A: New gift cards can be used in Alko's webshop. The new gift cards went on sale on 1.3.2023. On the back of the new gift cards, you'll find a PIN code under the scratch surface. The PIN code is needed when paying in Alko's webshop.

Old gift cards, i.e. those purchased before 1.3.2023, cannot be used in Alko's webshop, but they can be used as a payment method in stores until the end of their validity.

Q: How do you know if a gift card can be used in an webshop?

A: If there is a scratch surface on the back of the physical gift card with a PIN code underneath, the gift card can be used in the webshop. Electronic gift cards purchased from Alko's webshop can always be used in the webshop.

Q: How long is the gift card valid?

A: The gift card is valid for 25 months from the date of purchase. If the sending date of the electronic gift card is later than the date of purchase, the validity period begins from the date of shipment.

Q: Can I pay for the purchase partly with a gift card and partly with another payment method in an Alko store? What payment methods can I use to pay with a gift card?

A: Yes, you can pay for the remaining part of the purchase in the Alko store with cash, payment card or mobile payment.

Q: Can I pay for the purchase partly with a gift card and partly with another payment method in Alko's webshop? What payment methods can I use to pay with a gift card?

A: Yes, alko's webshop allows you to pay the remaining part with other payment methods of the webshop: payment card, online banking, mobile payment

Q: Can I pay for my purchases with more than one gift card?

A: You can pay with more than one gift card in the store. In the webshop, you can only pay with one gift card at a time.

Q: If the customer wants to return the products they bought from the webshop with a gift card, how will the money be returned to the customer?

A: If only the gift card has been used, the order will be refunded as a new electronic gift card.

If the payment has been made partly with another payment method, e.g. credit card, the amount paid to the credit card will be refunded with it, and the amount paid with the gift card will be refunded as a new electronic gift card.

Q: Can I use a gift card to buy gift cards?

A: No, you can’t.

Q: Can I use the gift card to buy all Alko products?

A: Yes, everyone except gift cards.

Q: Is the gift card personal?

A: No, the gift card is not named. However, the user of the gift card must be of legal age.
