VS Cognac is a strong beverage made from wine that is aged in casks and blended using several distillates. These Cognacs are made in western France in the region of Cognac. Even the youngest distillate used in VS Cognac is at least two years old.
You can discern notes of light fruit, apricots, cocoa, chocolate, spices and oak in VS Cognacs.
VS Cognacs are typically served alongside coffee or in mixed drinks, and are also used in cooking to flavour or flambé foods.
VS Cognacs are perfect for enjoying after a meal alongside coffee. They are also used in mixed drinks with, for example, ginger ale or soda water and ice. Cognac also adds flavour and enables the flambéing of the classic dessert Crêpes Suzette, i.e. orange-flavoured thin pancakes.
Alongside coffee, VS Cognac is served slightly below room temperature, at 16–18°C.
More than two-thirds of all Cognacs sold belong to the VS category.
