Irish whiskeys can be either blends of malt and grain whisky or pure malt whiskeys.

Irish whiskeys range from light and nuanced through soft with honey notes to rich. They do not usually have smoky aromas.

Irish whiskeys are served in mixed drinks, as digestifs, with a dash of water or on the rocks. Irish Coffee is also widely known.

Enjoying whisky with soda water or a soft drink is common all over the world. Whiskey on the rocks is so cold it can numb your taste buds, but it is still the favourite of many people. As a digestif, whisky can make your stomach feel slightly less full. Irish Coffee – made from coffee, cream, sugar and Irish whiskey – warms you up if you are cold.

Irish whiskey is served at room temperature.

The world’s first licence for distilling whiskey was granted in Ulster, Northern Ireland, in 1608.
