Armagnac is a brandy recognised as a controlled appellation of origin that is produced in Gascony, south-west France. The age classification of Armagnacs is different from that of Cognacs, but the requirements for ageing are just as strictly defined.

You can discern notes of fruit, apricots, cocoa, chocolate, spices and oak in Armagnac.

Armagnacs are typically served alongside coffee, as digestifs or in mixed drinks, or used in cooking.

Armagnacs are perfect for enjoying after a meal alongside coffee. They are also used in mixed drinks with, for example, ginger ale or soda water and ice. In cooking, Armagnac can be used for flavouring, marinating and flambéing.

Armagnac is served at room temperature.

The appellation of origin ‘Armagnac’ was recognised more than one hundred years ago, in 1909. Armagnacs can be used in the same way as Cognacs.
