French-style ciders are made from apples or pears using traditional methods. They range from dry to sweet, but the flavour of the fruit is always strong. The alcohol content is usually rather low, 4%–5.5%.
You can discern notes of apple jam, cinnamon apple, pear, citrus, spices, oak and horse stable in French-style ciders.
French-style ciders have a variety of uses from aperitifs to desserts. The ciders can also be used in cooking and, of course, for socialising and enjoyment.
Try French-style ciders with scallops and cider butter sauce, crêpes with a cep filling or Tarte Tatin.
