For products with over 5.5% alcohol sellers have a possibility to use Alko’ price calculator, which is a tool for calculating a retail price when a purchase price and possible other pricing factors are changing. For products with maximum 5.5% alcohol Alko will dictate the retail price and the seller can only change the purchase price. Changes in prices of specialty products and seasonal products cannot be made. When informing a price for a multi-pack notice that a purchase price for a multi-pack needs to be a direct multiple of the purchase price of the single bottle or can.
The purchase price of a new product cannot be changed for the first price list period after the product’s listing date: it can only be changed for the price list period thereafter (‘novelty period’). However, a change in the mode of delivery makes an exception to the rule. If the delivery mode is being changed for the first price list period after the listing date, the purchase price has to be altered in a way that the retail price remains the same. The rules for new products apply to all selection categories.
Changes to the terms of delivery and modes of distribution
Changes to price, delivery and distribution clauses for general and sale-to-order selection products must be made in Partner Network or by using Alko’s offer form. An authorization must also be enclosed, when needed. More information in the Listing instructions.
Changes to products’ recycling system/deposit during the price list period
Changes to products’ recycling system/deposit during the price list period must be made in Partner Network or by using Alko’s offer form. More information in the Listing instructions.
Changes to products’ purchase prices and recycling system/deposit
After the first price list period, a product’s price can be changed according to the price list schedule. For products over 5.5% the purchase price can be changed so, that the retail price changes 20 percent at the most (changes of 0.50 euros and below are always allowed). When the retail price changes between 10 and 20 percent up- or downwards the supplier has the obligation to clarify the reasoning of the change to Alko’s respective Product Manager. In exceptional cases, which impact the market widely, larger changes can be allowed. For products with maximum 5.5% alcohol, the product’s purchase price can be changed after the first price list period according to the price list schedule with no limitations to the magnitude of the change.
The purchase price of a product over 5.5% can be changed according to the end-of-life rules, if the product has been in Alko’s selection for at least 12 months and the supplier has made a binding notification of the product’s removal from the selection to Alko’s respective Product Manager. In these cases, the product’s purchase price can be changed according to the price list schedule with no limitations to the magnitude of the change. If the product’s retail price changes more than 20 percent downwards the supplier is obligated to notify Alko’s respective Product Manager with the remaining end-of-life quantity of the product to ensure good customer service and smooth operations. For products with maximum 5.5% alcohol, the product’s purchase price can be changed according to the price list schedule with no limitations to the magnitude of the change also in the end-of-life stage.
Changing purchase prices in euros are informed in Purchase price notification -view in Partner Network. Change in the recycling system/change of deposit can also be informed in the same view. Please note that only changing price or recycling system/deposit information should be informed. For new products only the change in the recycling system/deposit is allowed. In case an old product has received a new product number, the price notification needs to be done by email to email@example.com.
All supplier’s products that can be informed are visible in a new Purchase price notification -view in the Partner Network. In the view it is possible to inform changing purchase price and the corresponding retail price or back-door price BDP in euros and also change in the recycling system/change of deposit. Changing purchase prices can be submitted in the view by using a specific Excel file template (attached). Changes in the recycling system/Change of deposit needs to be informed separately in Partner Network Purchase price notification -view. It is possible to change the data as many times as needed until the last date for making the notification. More detailed instructions for the use are available in the Partner Network instructions (attached).
If supplier does not have a user ID or supplier does not have a possibility to use the Partner Network for informing prices, it is possible to submit the information as an Excel file. This file needs to include at least the following information: Product number, product name, new purchase price and new retail price/back door price. The product number is determinant when prices are updated. Changes reported with an incorrect product number will not be taken into account. Only the products with a change in purchase price and/or a change in recycling system/deposit are to be listed in the Excel sheet. The file is sent to firstname.lastname@example.org at the latest on the day of notification shown in the listing instructions. Price changes sent after the deadline are not taken into account.
Please, notify when informing changed purchase prices
If the purchase price of the product with over 5.5% alcohol is not changed by the last notification date, it is possible that the product’s retail price still changes if there has been changes in the product’s pricing factors during the price list period (and during the novelty period for novelty products). The Alko’ price calculator can be used for checking the price. After the first pricing round, a changed prices list will be sent to the suppliers for checking. The price list for review will be sent to supplier by email to the organization’s address or to the email where the file has been sent.
Supplier may request amendment to these prices in the following cases:
- There have been used false pricing factors in the calculation (taxes, logistics costs, tax concessions for small producers etc.)
- Product's deposit information is wrong
- There has been made clear typo in a price input
The clear typo is comprehended:
- Informed purchase price and retail price are calculated incorrectly and Alko’s pricing does not give the same result. Then the supplier either accepts the calculated retail price (which was not the same than in the notification) or the supplier informs a new purchase price, which gives the informed retail price for the product.
- The retail price calculated by Alko is increasing/decreasing over 20 percent from the current retail price. Then the supplier can ask the purchase price to be reset to the current purchase price, and Alko will recalculate the retail price according to it. Alternatively, the supplier can inform a purchase price, which will limit the change of the retail price to 20 percent sharp.
The amendment request must be sent by the given deadline to email@example.com. The amendment requests sent after the given deadline are not taken into account. Changes cannot be made to prices if the purchase and retail prices are calculated correctly in the notification, and Alko's pricing gives a same result. The amendment request can only be made for the products that have been informed for changing purchase price or changing deposit in the original purchase price notification.
